For the novice-project we want to make some webcasts for helping people to learn how to use the tools.

Michael already tried this out with Captivate.

I had a similar try with screenr.com…see how it worked.

[NOVICE] First focus group

Today we started in Hannover with the first focus group. We had our first session with 15 first-year students. The are participants of the course “Learning how to learn” which was a good opportunity to start with the focus group on informal learning in f2f and web2.0 settings.

We really had a good discussion which we recorded on video tape. Now we have to transcribe and translate it. But finally we started with the research part of the project…

What is a PLE?

In our project and during the workshop we often talked about Personal Learning Environment (PLE). Now I found a video clip by Stephen Downes who is talking about PLE.  Maybe you would like to watch it….

[Informal learning] Heart sounds library

Some terms ago we started a blended learning course on cardiological propaedeutics as a cooperation between Budapest and Hannover which ran very successful.  This term we were able to start another course like this about echo cardiography.

Becaus we think that cardiology could be learned very good with “New Media” and is important in veterinary medicine we now started a “Heartsounds library” for informal learning. With mp3s and mpgs (phonocardiograms) you can listen and learn about the grading of heart murmurs and pathological exampels.

[NOVICE] Online-Sessions

Workpackage 1 of our EU-project NOVICE (Network of Veterinary ICt in Education) is about the development of a network of ICT educationalists in veterinary medicine. One of the first deliveries is to get the educationalists familiar with several methods and techniques of informal learning.

Therefore we start with online-sessions about “Blogging” and “Wikis” in a virtual classroom. The first one will be held in a Netucate setting on Tuesday 23rd of February and the second one in an Adobe Connect setting on Tuesday 2nd of March.

The learning targets will be to get familiar with virtual classrooms (discussion, presentation, whiteboard, polls) and to learn about the use of blogs, microblogging, rss, wikis. During the session the discussion should show how these techniques could be used in the project and for learning veterinary medicine.

What an experience!
